Our take on Watch Over Christmas
Rather than centering combat, leveling, or sprawling exploration, this adventure confines its story to the night before Christmas. Its holiday setting, young protagonist, and companion-led rescue quest replace the genre’s usual danger-driven structure with a seasonal mystery built around puzzles.
What is Watch Over Christmas?
Cisco, a 12-year-old boy, receives an unexpected visitor who tells him that Santa has been kidnapped.
Taking place on the night before Christmas, the story follows Cisco’s search to rescue Santa and preserve the holiday. The game uses a classic 2D point-and-click structure, with exploration, story-led progression, and mini-game puzzles. Its locations include more than 60 hand-drawn environments, supported by 2D animation, voiced dialogue, and an original soundtrack. A companion also joins Cisco during the quest. The puzzles are presented as fun and challenging while avoiding deliberately obscure solutions, and the Christmas setting shapes the game’s story and atmosphere.
