StrategyIs Warbox Sandbox worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Players interested in building cross-era battles rather than following a fixed historical scenario
- Simulation fans who want to switch between observing combat and controlling individual units
- Players who enjoy customizing teams and exploring community-made maps
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a campaign with a stated sequence of missions or a defined narrative may find the sandbox structure too open-ended.
- Those looking for strategy centered on managing a base or economy may find the focus on unit combat too narrow.
- Players who do not want blood, gore, or dismemberment in combat may not suit the game's adjustable gore settings.
Our take on Warbox Sandbox
Rather than keeping the player in an observer or commander role, the game allows direct control of any unit during a battle. Its sandbox setup also lets players mix forces from different eras instead of limiting clashes to one historical period.
What is Warbox Sandbox?
Warbox Sandbox is a combat simulation game where players can build battles using units and weapons from different eras.
It offers more than 200 units, custom teams, and toggleable active ragdoll physics. Ballistic simulation includes trajectories, velocity, ricochets, and penetration. Players can join the action by taking control of any unit with the E key, or observe the battle from above. Gore settings can be adjusted. Mod support lets players create and share custom content; community-made additions include more than 20 maps. The game includes teams such as Vikings, samurai, ancient Romans, modern military, zombies, and civilians.
