Our take on Wake
Rather than making combat the central activity, Wake places the player inside a hazardous escape route. Running, swimming, route selection, and survival items replace the fixed progression common to more combat-led action games.
What is Wake?
Wake follows an engineer trapped on a sinking ship.
The player runs and swims through the vessel, choosing a route toward the surface while avoiding its corrupted security system. Hazards include bullets, fire, electricity, lasers, and drowning. Randomized areas change the ship between attempts. Keys, torches, and other items can be collected during the escape. The game includes multiple difficulty modes, end-game challenges, and online scoreboards for comparing results. Its story involves uncovering the truth behind the ship’s sinking. Gameplay takes place in close quarters, with support for Xbox 360 and standard controllers. The included soundtrack is available in MP3 and FLAC formats.
