Our take on VROOM: Galleon
Rather than making the ship’s voyage the central structure, this experience keeps the galleon in place and turns its decks, nearby island, and surrounding waters into activity spaces. Its genre departure comes from treating pirate life as a collection of VR interactions instead of a sailing simulation or conventional adventure campaign.
What is VROOM: Galleon?
VROOM: Galleon is a virtual reality experience set aboard a 16th-century English race-built galleon.
The ship remains stationary at two locations rather than sailing, while activities take place across its decks, cabins, rigging, and surrounding environments. Visitors can climb to the crow’s nest, fire twelve cannons, use a telescope to watch for mermaids, and eat or drink at the captain’s table. Other activities include swimming near sharks, exploring a tropical island, flying as a seagull over the ship and trees, and shooting objects tossed by monkeys. The experience also includes magical realism events intended for VR headsets. It is presented as an interactive life-at-sea experience rather than a conventional PC game or sailing simulator.
