Is Volt worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Puzzle-platformer players who want physics-based movement and environmental interactions
- Action game fans who prefer structured stages with explosions and boss encounters
- Players seeking a multi-zone challenge with unlockable levels and characters
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a conventional character with legs and standard platforming controls may find the battery's movement restrictive
- Players wanting a calm or low-pressure puzzle experience may not suit the explosion-focused action and difficult escape premise
- Players looking for open-world exploration may find the zone-and-level structure too contained
Our take on Volt
Rather than giving the protagonist ordinary movement, Volt makes a legless battery navigate through beams, wall launches, gravity, and object physics. Its facility escape replaces standard platforming with electrical connections and environmental manipulation, while explosions sit alongside puzzle-solving as part of the core structure.
What is Volt?
Volt is an action puzzle-platformer about a battery escaping a recycling facility.
Electric beams connect the battery to walls, move or destroy objects, activate switches, and charge generators. Movement also relies on jumping, pushing away from walls, physics, and gravity. The game contains over 60 levels across four industrial-themed zones, along with boss stages. Completing parts of the game unlocks 12-bit levels and additional batteries. Limited electric beams shape each challenge, while explosions form part of the platforming and puzzle structure. The game provides unlimited lives, allowing repeated attempts during its facility escape.
How Volt plays
- 01Beam-Based Movement
- Electric beams let the battery attach to walls, shift objects, activate switches, and power generators.
- 02Industrial Level Structure
- More than 60 stages are arranged across four zones with industrial themes.
- 03Boss Stages
- The level progression includes dedicated encounters with bosses.
- 04Unlockable Content
- Progress opens 12-bit stages and new battery characters.
- 05Unlimited Attempts
- The game allows unlimited lives for repeated tries.
Volt compared to similar games
Volt uses electric connections, object manipulation, switches, generators, and physics across industrial puzzle-platforming stages. Jusant centers on climbing a tall tower with climbing tools, stamina management, exploration, and multiple paths, while Sundered: Eldritch Edition is described as a chaotic metroidvania rather than a facility-escape puzzle platformer.
