Our take on Venice 2089
The focus on exploring Venice and meeting its residents leaves little space for broader systems beyond traversal, quests, and puzzles. Tide changes add variation to movement, but can also make parts of the city inaccessible at times.
What is Venice 2089?
Explore a future Venice through Nova, a teenager in a city affected by rising and unpredictable tides.
Travel between locations in a 2. 5D presentation, where water levels change access and movement. Meet residents, learn about their perspectives, and complete quests for characters around the city. Nova can use a hoverboard to travel and perform tricks while producing a soundtrack that reflects their mood. A drone lets Nova interact with the environment, retrieve out-of-reach objects, and solve puzzles. Objects and experiences gathered during exploration can be kept in Nova’s house-boat.
