Our take on Vasilisa and Baba Yaga
Rather than following a single adventure structure, the game turns Vasilisa’s service to Baba Yaga into a chain of mini-games. Combat, chores, navigation, attention tests, and stealth replace the genre’s usual continuous exploration loop.
What is Vasilisa and Baba Yaga?
This adventure game follows Vasilisa on a journey to the land of the dead, where she seeks the power of fire from Baba Yaga.
Progress is structured as a sequence of mini-games covering several types of play. Combat missions include battles with evil spirits, Vodyanoy, Bolotnik, Leshy, and Vasilisa’s stepmother. Other tasks involve washing dishes, doing laundry, cleaning Baba Yaga’s hut, and baking pirogi. Players also navigate fog, forests, and algae while completing stealth challenges. The story draws on unadapted Russian fairy tales and folklore with horror elements. A narrator presents the tale in a South Russian dialect, while the soundtrack uses folk-song influences. An in-game encyclopaedia covers characters, creatures, objects, customs, and rituals.
