CasualIs Varius worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Arcade players who want short, color-matching survival challenges rather than story-led progression.
- Players who enjoy breaking bricks but prefer projectile deflection to direct aiming.
- Fans of memory challenges who want sequences to grow from round to round.
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a slow-paced game may find the accelerating projectile and imminent failure pressure too intense.
- Those looking for a varied campaign or long-form progression may find the three modes focused on repeating a small set of mechanics.
- Players seeking online multiplayer or user-created levels may prefer a game that explicitly offers those features.
Our take on Varius
Instead of relying on a single arcade loop, Varius applies color matching to survival, brick destruction, and sequence recall. Its modes shift the challenge from reacting to an incoming projectile to handling hazards or remembering a pattern.
What is Varius?
Varius is a color-matching arcade game with three modes.
In Survive, players change the shuttle’s shield color to match an accelerating projectile and deflect it. Shatter uses the same deflection mechanic to break bricks: colored bricks alter the projectile’s color, while special bricks introduce effects such as lasers, explosions, freezing, gravity changes, or darkness. In Sequence, players must remember a growing series of colors while the projectile’s color is hidden. Each mode builds on matching colors, but changes the challenge through survival, brick destruction, or recall.
How Varius plays
- 01Brick-breaking hazards
- In Shatter, special bricks can trigger lasers, blasts, freezing, altered gravity, or darkness.
- 02Growing color sequence
- Sequence adds another color to the remembered pattern with each round.
- 03Accelerating projectile
- Survive centers on deflecting a projectile that gains speed.
