We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Fighting-game players who want character-specific attacks and super moves
- Comic readers who want separate stories tied to Operación Bolívar and Perros Salvajes
- Two-player households looking for versus matches and a practice mode
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players who need story content in a language other than Spanish may hit a wall in story mode.
- Players seeking a large roster may find the 10 playable characters limiting, despite 2 hidden characters.
- Players looking for a solo campaign without a fighting-game focus may not find that structure here.
Our take on TZOMPANTLI
The clearest bounce point is the story mode’s Spanish-only text: players who need another language will reach that limit when they start following the character narratives. The roster is also bounded at 10 playable fighters, with 2 additional characters hidden.
What is TZOMPANTLI?
TZOMPANTLI is a fighting game based on Edgar Clément’s comics, where angel hunters, archangels, Nahuales, Mexican police officers, Japanese robots, and demons fight over a bounty on the Archangel Michael.
It includes 10 playable characters and 2 hidden characters, each with individual attacks, special moves, and super moves. The story mode presents a separate story for each character and continues the comics Operación Bolívar and Perros Salvajes; this mode is currently in Spanish. Two players can face off in versus mode, and training mode provides a place to practice.
The game has 13 stages drawn from the comics, one alternate costume per character, cel-shaded graphics, and a combo system described as simple to understand. Its soundtrack features music by DJ Insano, Leonardo Castillo, and Froster.
