- Players seeking climbing, running, or exploration as the central activity
Our take on Tross
The focus on aerial movement, weak-point attacks, and barrier timing leaves less room for broader exploration or progression systems. Energy depletion can also temporarily interrupt control during aggressive attacks.
What is Tross?
Tross is an action game about flying through a digital world and destroying malicious files to prevent a cyber apocalypse.
Each file is placed inside a temporary quarantine zone, creating a limited window for the attack before the barrier collapses. The Tross must navigate around data to avoid collisions and corruption. Every target has a deletion spot identified from information gathered by the program, and striking this location is required for proper deletion. Attacks drain the Tross's energy, which regenerates quickly but can also be depleted quickly. An empty energy supply causes temporary loss of control. Malicious files remain able to defend themselves through different methods while confined by the barrier.
How Tross plays
- 01Temporary target barriers
- Quarantine zones surround malicious files for a limited period, so attacks must be completed before they collapse.
- 02Weak-point attacks
- Each file has a specific deletion location identified through data collected by the Tross.
- 03Energy-based control
- Attacks consume energy, and exhausting the supply temporarily removes control of the Tross.
- 04Collision hazards
- Striking data while navigating the digital world causes corruption.
- 05Defensive targets
- Malicious files can defend themselves in different ways while held inside a quarantine zone.
Tross compared to similar games
Tross focuses on flying through sectors, attacking identified file weak points, and managing energy before temporary barriers fail. SUPER CHICKEN JUMPER combines running and jumping with shooting, while Sundered: Eldritch Edition is described as a metroidvania. Jusant centers on climbing, tools, exploration, and a measured pace.
