Our take on TripTrip
Color matching becomes the main bounce point when stages move from two colors to all four. Players who can manage the early autorunner sections may still stall when rapid color choices combine with gaps, walls, hazards, and boss-specific timing.
What is TripTrip?
TripTrip combines autorunner movement with color matching and platforming.
The ball must match the floor while avoiding walls, hazardous conditions, and gaps. Players switch among red, blue, yellow, and green; early stages use two colors, while later sections require all four. J Powerups provide jumps, with midair movement allowing longer, shorter, or sideways trajectories. Each of the 8+ worlds ends with a distinct boss encounter, including reflected shots, rainbow shockwaves, and fiery movement challenges. Easy mode adds a Life meter that decreases when a Normal-mode death would occur, while Normal and harder modes include Bonus meters tied to Token secrets. The game includes 19 retro soundtrack tracks and supports keyboard or remappable gamepad controls. There is no color-blind-friendly mode.
How TripTrip plays
- 01Four-color matching
- Later stages require rapid switching among red, blue, yellow, and green to remain on the correct floor.
- 02Airborne movement
- J Powerups enable jumps, while midair control changes jump distance and allows sideways movement.
- 03Boss encounters
- Every world concludes with a different boss challenge, including projectile reflection, shockwave jumps, and fiery movement tests.
- 04Adjustable difficulty
- Easy mode uses a Life meter, while Normal and higher difficulties expose Bonus meters connected to Token secrets.
- 05Retro soundtrack
- The game contains 19 tracks covering world themes, boss sequences, and secret areas.
- 06Rebindable controls
- Keyboard and gamepad play are supported, with gamepad buttons remappable to other inputs.
TripTrip compared to similar games
TripTrip focuses on autorunning, four-color floor matching, platforming hazards, and boss stages across more than 8 worlds. SUPER CHICKEN JUMPER is also a runner, but its description adds shooting, destruction, and enemy combat rather than TripTrip's color-switching floor system.
