Good fit- Hardcore survival players who want hunger, thirst, shelter, predators, and environmental hazards
- Fantasy sandbox fans who want to play as humans, Raknar, or dragons
- Players who prefer configurable worlds with crafting, evolving abilities, and species-specific mechanics

Saves you a refund- Players seeking a forgiving survival game may find hunger, thirst, predators, weather, and character lives demanding
- Players wanting a fixed character progression may not suit the three-race structure and species-specific development paths
- Players looking for frequent updates may not fit a game whose developer says it will not be updated much
- Players seeking a tightly directed adventure may not fit a configurable sandbox centered on survival
Our take on Trials of Ascension: Exile
The store copy spends substantial space on dragon growth, breath attacks, and flight, while also noting that the game will not receive many updates because development is focused on another title. That caveat is important alongside the extensive feature presentation.
What is Trials of Ascension: Exile?
Trials of Ascension: Exile is a sandbox fantasy survival game set on the Lost Isles.
Characters manage hunger and thirst while gathering resources, building shelter, and facing predators, changing weather, storms, and dark nights. Combat includes health, stamina, and balance: reckless attacks can reduce effectiveness and expose a character to knockdowns. Humans craft tools and equipment, research improvements, and create building blueprints. Raknar evolve their natural abilities through hunting, use silk for traps and wound treatment, and move across difficult surfaces.
Dragons grow through life stages, build nests, gather rare metals, and develop breath attacks and flight. Island settings can change spawn rates, PvP rules, and the number of character lives. The developer says the game will not receive many updates while work continues on Trials of Ascension.
How Trials of Ascension: Exile plays
- 01Three playable races
- Humans depend on skills and crafting, Raknar develop hunting abilities, and dragons advance through growth stages.
- 02Survival management
- Food, water, shelter, predators, weather, and daylight cycles affect survival on the islands.
- 03Balance-based combat
- Poor balance makes attacks less effective and increases the chance of being knocked down.
- 04Human construction
- Human characters create three-dimensional building designs and use blueprints to start construction.
- 05Dragon progression
- Dragons molt into larger life stages and can gain abilities such as breath attacks and flight.
- 06Island configuration
- World settings include flora and fauna spawn rates, PvP rules, and the number of lives allowed for each character.
Trials of Ascension: Exile compared to similar games
Mr. Prepper is also a survival-crafting game, with gameplay centered on preparing an underground shelter and dealing with an authoritarian government. Trials of Ascension: Exile instead places survival across configurable islands and adds three playable races, species-specific abilities, and balance-based combat.
