Our take on Tower Escape
The reverse tower-defense premise receives most of the attention, while the actual play centers on route selection, minion management, and run-based upgrades. The listing presents the maze, relic, and combination systems, but gives less emphasis to how much of each session is spent planning movement.
What is Tower Escape?
Tower Escape reverses the tower-defense format by putting the player in control of the attacking side.
As a necromancer, the player assembles minions and guides them through treasure-filled tower mazes toward an exit. Planning mode includes a threat heatmap for selecting a route around enemy defenses. Minions can be upgraded, combined into stronger forms, and used according to their different abilities. Gems and relics alter runs, while procedurally generated mazes provide changing layouts and challenges. Progress can reveal additional minions, relics, and secrets. The game also includes Steam Achievements and Steam Cloud Saves.
How Tower Escape plays
- 01Threat heatmap planning
- A planning overlay shows dangerous areas while a route is selected for the minion group.
- 02Minion combinations
- Different minions can be merged into stronger forms with new ability combinations.
- 03Run-changing relics
- Gems and relics modify gameplay during individual escape attempts.
- 04Procedural tower mazes
- Maze layouts are generated for changing challenges across playthroughs.
- 05Unlockable discoveries
- Progress can uncover additional minions, relics, and hidden secrets.
- 06Steam Cloud Saves
- Progress can be saved and resumed through Steam Cloud.
