We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Casual strategy players who prefer exploration and resource management over fast-paced combat
- Players who enjoy discovering recipes and crafting items from gathered materials
- RTS players looking for a focused expedition involving map exploration, ruins, and nearby enemies
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a complex RTS with detailed resource systems may find the resource management deliberately simple.
- Players looking for a broad campaign or a varied set of activities may find the focus on exploring, crafting, and fighting nearby enemies narrow.
- Players who prefer puzzle solving, party games, or card-based combat will find those activities are not the focus here.
Our take on Tilecraft
The focus on simple resource management and a repeating explore, craft, and fight loop keeps the activity centered on the expedition. That focus leaves little room for the detailed economic systems or broad strategic layers found in more complex RTS games.
What is Tilecraft?
Tilecraft is a minimalist real-time strategy game about exploring a map and building on the tiles that have been discovered.
The map contains procedurally generated resources. Players manage simple resources to expand their exploration and find recipes. Collected materials can be crafted on explored tiles into new items, using recipes found during the expedition. Nearby enemies can be fought to take control of ruins and collect treasure. The game focuses on this cycle of exploration, resource management, crafting, and combat in a casual, calming setting.
How Tilecraft plays
- 01Procedural resources
- Resource locations across the map are generated for each expedition.
- 02Recipe-based crafting
- Recipes discovered during exploration determine how collected materials become new items.
- 03Ruins and treasure
- Combat against nearby enemies provides a way to claim ruins and gather their treasure.
