Our take on The Weaponographist
The store presentation foregrounds frantic combat and a colorful weapon list, but the central constraint is attrition: weapons deteriorate, the combo fades when attacks stop, and the curse keeps reducing strength. The result is less a broad dungeon adventure than a tightly pressured arena loop.
What is The Weaponographist?
The Weaponographist is a fast-paced, top-down dungeon arena game built around constant movement and attacks.
Doug McGrave begins cursed, stripped of his powers, money, and weapons, then fights demons to recover his strength. Weapons found during runs include swords, chainsaws, machine guns, and pogo sticks, but each breaks down with use, requiring frequent changes. Defeating enemies raises a combo meter, while pausing attacks causes it to fall and lets the curse continue draining power. Demons provide gore and goop that can be exchanged with Hellside vendors for upgrades. The game presents a roguelike structure, creature-filled arenas, changing weapons, and a soundtrack by Christopher Hoag.
How The Weaponographist plays
- 01Decaying Weapons
- Found weapons break during use, so combat requires switching between different attack options.
- 02Combo-Based Combat
- Defeating enemies builds a meter that drops quickly when attacks stop.
- 03Curse Progression
- Killing demons restores strength and weakens the curse in stages.
- 04Vendor Upgrades
- Demon gore and goop can be traded with Hellside vendors for upgrades.
