Our take on The Rookery
Players who prefer standard chess may bounce off when abilities start exploding pieces, creating queens, or granting extra moves. The larger wall arrives in the build system, where surviving bosses depends on combining upgrades rather than relying only on familiar chess principles.
What is The Rookery?
The Rookery combines chess with roguelite army building and battles against bosses.
Each run begins with a small army, then offers pieces, relics, consumables, and other upgrades that shape its strategy. Builds can focus on pawns, accumulate queens, or pursue other combinations. Abilities can destroy opposing pieces, create queens, or allow two moves in succession. Ten bosses have distinct powers, while five starting relics create different openings. Completing runs unlocks harder levels and additional items. The game offers a large selection of items and buffs, 40 difficulty levels, and AI that exploits weaknesses. Its difficulty range is intended to support both chess newcomers and international masters.
