The Hilarious Three Kingdoms combines strategy and RPG systems in a campaign led by Liu Bei, the ruler of Shu Han.
Across 22 levels, the army moves, attacks, uses skills, rests, and exploits terrain to meet victory conditions. Defeat ends the campaign if the commander falls. Combatants gain experience and can advance through 32 soldier and civilian classes, each with different strengths such as movement, attack, defense, or active abilities. Level-ups allow free attribute allocation, while transfers offer choices of advanced careers and skills. Weapons for military characters can be earned through specific tasks. The campaign follows events including conflicts with the Yellow Turbans and Dong Zhuo, the Battle of Chibi, and campaigns in Jingzhou and Western Shu.
