Our take on The Glow
Rather than treating sanity as a background status, the game makes medication part of the survival loop and ties its decline to changes in the surrounding world. It also replaces a fixed approach to encounters with a choice between violence, cooperation, and concealment.
What is The Glow?
The Glow is a single-player survival game with roguelike elements.
Each playthrough follows one of six characters through a semi-randomly generated world, with different objectives available to pursue. Resources can be scavenged while other people may be confronted with violence, approached for cooperation, or avoided through stealth. Taking pills affects sanity; stopping can change the surrounding world. Completing objectives unlocks additional characters, while exploration reveals secrets connected to the city’s disorder. The story follows a resident forced to leave an apartment as supplies run low and the city becomes increasingly dangerous. Survival depends on managing resources, selecting objectives, and deciding how to respond to encounters.

The Glow compared to similar games
The Glow combines semi-randomized survival, resource scavenging, sanity management, and flexible encounters, while Back to the Dawn centers on investigating and escaping a maximum-security prison.
