RPGIs Tartapolis worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Players who enjoy exploring open-world RPG settings with routes unlocked by special items.
- Action RPG fans who want combat that combines guns, fists, and modifiable bots.
- Players interested in detective stories involving cases, city politics, and a central mystery.
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players who want a tightly linear campaign may find the open-world exploration and side quests a poor fit.
- Players who prefer simple progression may hit a wall with the mix of skill trees, weapon attachments, bot modifications, and liquid mixing.
- Players looking for a primarily stealth-based game may not find that focus here.
Our take on Tartapolis
Players who want combat to stay simple may bounce when progression opens up several systems at once: skill trees, weapon attachments, bot modifications, and liquid mixing. The detective cases also share space with open-world exploration and side quests, so a strictly case-to-case pace may not hold.
What is Tartapolis?
Tartapolis is an open-world RPG with metroidvania elements, set in a metropolis where two realities meet and technology is sentient.
Players control Richard Bor, a detective who runs an agency with partner Marla Cox. A case draws him into a mystery and puts him in danger from the HIVE, which governs the city through technology and a special police force. Exploration, combat, case-solving, and side quests shape the journey toward the Citadel. Combat uses fists, guns, and bots.
Character progression includes skill trees, customization, weapons and attachments, modifiable bots, and liquid mixing. Unique items open routes through the city, while detective equipment is used to solve cases. The story also includes evolving relationships with NPCs, merchants, and the city’s aware technology.
