Our take on Tap Dungeon
Death resets the expedition rather than ending the experience, sending the player back into randomized dungeons with new combinations of classes, skills, items, and subclasses.
What is Tap Dungeon?
Tap Dungeon is a pixel-art roguelike dungeon crawler set in a medieval kingdom threatened by goblins, orcs, and undead forces.
Players guide an adventurer through procedurally arranged environments including forests, swamps, snowy plains, deserts, and ruined cities. Combat takes place in turns and requires planning around enemy encounters, skills, items, and character builds. Five classes—Swordsman, Assassin, Mage, Alchemist, and Guardian—provide different combat approaches. Skills, equipment, and subclasses can be combined without fixed restrictions. Runs also include unpredictable events, artifacts, and concealed bosses. When a character dies, the game begins again with new build combinations and dungeon surprises.
How Tap Dungeon plays
- 01Five character classes
- Swordsman, Assassin, Mage, Alchemist, and Guardian each use a distinct combat approach.
- 02Flexible build combinations

- 04Turn-based battles
- Encounters against goblins, orcs, and undead require decisions during each turn.
- 05Death-driven replay
- A fallen character starts another run with further build combinations and surprises to discover.
Tap Dungeon compared to similar games
Shogun Showdown also uses turn-based roguelike combat, but centers on positioning, attack tiles, deck construction, and a final fight against the Shogun. Tap Dungeon instead focuses on dungeon exploration, five classes, freely combined skills and items, randomized events, artifacts, and hidden bosses.
