Our take on System Malfunction
Players seeking a long campaign may bounce when the story concludes after roughly 40 to 60 minutes. Those who want extensive replay systems may hit another wall at the four-ending structure, where variation comes from choices and exploration rather than a larger progression system.
What is System Malfunction?
System Malfunction is a first-person horror game set inside a mysterious building.
Players take the role of a newly hired security guard working overnight, where routine duties lead into strange events and questions about the building’s past. Exploration and inspection reveal information as the player investigates what is happening. The game uses WASD movement, left-click inspection, and ESC to pause. Progress is saved automatically when each chapter ends. Choices determine one of four possible endings, while the amount of exploration can affect the playthrough. Average playtime is 40 to 60 minutes, with variation based on the selected ending and how thoroughly the building is explored.
