Our take on Sword Trip
Rather than treating the lobby as a menu between fights, SwordTrip gives it cultural activities such as brush writing, painting, and display-board customization. Its main genre departure remains the VR-specific skill interaction layered onto sword combat.
What is Sword Trip?
SwordTrip is a VR action roguelite with Chinese-inspired styling.
Players wield a blade to parry incoming strikes and cut down foes, while encounters prevent crossed weapons from remaining locked together. Rewards found during stages provide abilities that can be mixed into varied fighting configurations. A skill interface built around virtual-reality interaction lets players choose and activate these abilities. In the noncombat hub, Chinese cultural elements include using a brush for written or painted marks and modifying artwork shown on the lobby display.
How Sword Trip plays
- 01Sword-based combat
- Players defend against enemies with blocks and attack them through sword slashes and clashes.
- 02Stage rewards
- Progress through stages grants abilities that can be combined into different combat setups.
- 03VR skill interactions
- Abilities are selected and used through a system built around virtual-reality interaction.
- 04Cultural lobby activities
- The lobby includes brush writing or painting and lets players change images on a display board.
Sword Trip compared to similar games
SwordTrip uses VR sword blocks, slashes, and ability combinations, while Abyssus centers on multiplayer shooting with brine-powered weapons and weapon modifications. Sundered: Eldritch Edition is a chaotic metroidvania, whereas SwordTrip structures its action around stage rewards and VR melee interaction.
