Play it if you…
Good fit- Farming-sim players who want relationship stories and romance alongside crop management
- Players who prefer open-ended homestead building and production chains over a fixed daily route

Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a tightly directed story may find the open-ended pace and optional community involvement diffuse
- Players wanting a farming simulator centered on familiar tools and conventional social systems may dislike its deliberate omissions and modernized mechanics
- Players looking for a combat-focused RPG may find cave battles secondary to farming, crafting, and relationships
Our take on SunnySide
The emphasis on creative freedom and a modern farming experience may obscure how much of the game remains centered on routine homestead work, processing goods, and community schedules. Cave exploration and card battles are present, but they sit alongside the farming and life-sim structure rather than replacing it.
What is SunnySide?
SunnySide is a farming and life simulator set in the Japanese countryside.
Players develop a homestead, grow 113 crops, care for animals, build a home, and use systems such as drip watering, raised beds, and sustainable energy. The game includes 27 characters to befriend, community events, romance, and stories involving family trauma, failed relationships, guilt, blame, and aging. Produce can be processed through machines for drying, fermenting, pressing, cooking, bottling, and packaging before being sold to local businesses, city shops, or a weekend farmers’ market. Players can customize a character, phone, drone, and homestead. Cave exploration with Sparky adds a card-based battle system and a mission involving the drone’s lost memories.
