- Puzzle players who enjoy combining inventory items and examining environments
- Players seeking an isometric adventure with voiced characters and cinematic music
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking combat-focused gameplay may bounce off the inventory, terminal, and environment-based progression.
- Players who want a forgiving adventure may hit a wall at the challenging puzzles and scenes where John can die.
- Players avoiding gruesome horror themes may reject the story's mature setting and violent death scenes.
Our take on STASIS
The bounce point arrives at the first demanding puzzle or gruesome failure state. Players expecting direct combat or a forgiving puzzle path may stop when progress depends on combining items, reading clues, and accepting John's possible deaths.
What is STASIS?
STASIS is a point-and-click sci-fi horror adventure set aboard the seemingly abandoned Groomlake spacecraft near Neptune.
John Maracheck awakens from stasis while his wife and daughter are missing and the ship descends into methane clouds. Exploration uses an isometric view, item collection, computer terminals, environmental interactions, and inventory combinations to uncover clues and solve puzzles. The story includes character backstory found on PDAs around the ship, multiple characters to meet, professional voice acting, cinematic music, and cut scenes. John can die in gruesome ways, and some objects can be used on him. The game presents a dystopian narrative with detailed 2D scenes and retro point-and-click interaction.
How STASIS plays
- 01Inventory Puzzles
- Collected items can be combined with other objects to solve challenges and advance through the ship.
- 02Terminal Exploration
- Computer terminals, environmental details, and PDAs provide interactive story information and clues.
- 03Isometric Presentation
- The ship is shown through individually detailed 2D scenes with an isometric viewpoint.
- 04Multiple Characters
- John encounters several characters during the investigation aboard the Groomlake.
- 05Consequential Deaths
- John can die in horrific situations, including through the use of special objects on himself.
STASIS compared to similar games
STASIS uses point-and-click exploration, inventory combinations, computer terminals, and environmental puzzles in a sci-fi horror setting. Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition instead centers on an RPG structure, unusual characters, and exploration of a strange city, while Jusant focuses on climbing tools, stamina management, and route discovery.
