Our take on Spark in the Dark
Procedurally generated dungeon elements vary across entries, but this comes at the expense of a fully fixed set of encounters and level details. The game also ties skill growth to use and includes equipment damage, injuries, and curses, adding uncertainty to character progression.
What is Spark in the Dark?
Spark in the Dark is a medieval dark-fantasy dungeon crawler about a hero descending into an ancient, seemingly endless dungeon.
Five hero classes have different skills, and combat brings the character up against monsters and deadly traps. Environmental interactions test the hero’s abilities, while secret places offer discoveries. Skills level up through use; the hero can also receive blessings, curses, and injuries. Equipment can be damaged and repaired. Each dungeon entry can generate different monsters, equipment, loot, statistics, and some level elements. Around one hundred books and annals, as well as diaries, notes, and points of interest, contain stories about the dungeon and its secrets.
