Our take on Soviet Souls
Rather than assigning one fixed hero throughout a platforming campaign, the game makes character selection part of each level. Its story also uses an unusual cast and setting, while two endings replace a single fixed conclusion.
What is Soviet Souls?
Soviet Souls is a 2D pixel-art platformer built around choosing one of three available characters for each level.
The characters use different combat techniques, and their skills can be upgraded. The game contains 32 levels across five locations, including a country, Siberia, hell and a Nazi base, along with three bosses with their own mechanics. Its medium difficulty includes frequent deaths, with challenges increasing as the levels progress. Cutscenes reveal the story, which follows Stalin, Lenin and Putin searching for a communist artifact after a threat reaches the Kremlin. Two endings are available, and gamepad support is included.
