The role-playing concept is therefore paired with a demanding action loop rather than presented as a separate narrative layer.
What is Soulblight?
Soulblight is a top-down action roguelike set in the shattered Sanctuary, where choices assign personality traits called Taints.
Each Taint changes how a character gains strength: an alcoholic character, for example, benefits from drinking and may struggle while sober. Additional Taints can be added during deeper runs, turning the dungeon’s shifting structure into a form of skill progression while moving the character toward a point of no return. Combat uses stamina and distance management, with weapons, armor, utility items, and an optional stealth approach. Levels are randomly generated, and permadeath supports the game’s high difficulty. The narrative is driven by gameplay rather than separate progression through experience grinding.
