Our take on SMFly: Ice Age
The gravity-switching design puts directional physics at the center of play, but gives up direct character control. Navigation therefore depends on managing gravity and hazards rather than combining traversal with combat, crafting, or wider exploration.
What is SMFly: Ice Age?
SMFly: Ice Age is a platformer based on physics and gravity control.
Players direct Mr. SM, a black, one-eyed alien, through snowy mountain levels without controlling him directly. Gravity can shift in four directions to navigate stages, collect coins, avoid sharp saws, and reach teleports that lead to new levels. The game includes progression through its levels, while the main character is presented as strong but vulnerable to saws. Snow and cold form part of the setting, but cold itself is not a hazard.
How SMFly: Ice Age plays
- 01Four-way gravity
- Players can alter gravity along four directional paths while guiding the character.
- 02Physics-based movement
- Movement through each stage depends on the game's physics.
- 03Coin collection
- Coins can be gathered while directing the character through the levels.
- 04Teleport progression
- Teleports move the character onward to new levels.
SMFly: Ice Age compared to similar games
SMFly: Ice Age focuses on four-direction gravity changes, physics-based traversal, coin collection, and teleports to new levels. Sonic Origins instead presents four named Sonic titles with spin-dash movement, while SUPER CHICKEN JUMPER combines running with shooting.
