- Strategy players who enjoy combining formations, terrain, weather, and unit types
- Players seeking an extended challenge mode with score chasing
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players who need detailed graphics or a visually elaborate interface may bounce off the deliberately minimal presentation.
- Players seeking a short, fixed campaign may find the more than 50 stages and endless challenge structure too extended.
- Players who want character ratings based on strength, intelligence, and leadership will not find those systems here.
- Players looking for a different historical setting may not fit a game centered on the late Eastern Han period and Qin forces.
Our take on Simple Sanguo
Players who rely on character-stat comparisons may hit a wall when they find that strength, intelligence, and leadership ratings are absent. The game instead makes officer abilities, traits, army condition, formations, terrain, weather, and timing the main basis for battlefield decisions.
What is Simple Sanguo?
Simple Sanguo is a Three Kingdoms strategy game with deliberately minimal visual presentation and simplified controls.
Battles depend on unit combinations, formations, terrain, weather, timing, tactics, officer abilities, traits, origins, tendencies, morale, equipment, and training rather than separate strength, intelligence, or leadership ratings. The Liu Bei campaign contains more than 50 stages based as far as possible on historical events, with decisions at key moments leading to different outcomes. An endless challenge mode lets players deploy accumulated forces against rival factions for high scores, including Qin cavalry. Infantry, archers, cavalry, and warships have distinct battlefield uses, while fire attacks can threaten units on water.

Simple Sanguo compared to similar games
Simple Sanguo focuses on late Eastern Han battles, officer and army factors, branching Liu Bei scenarios, and an endless challenge mode. Men of War: Assault Squad covers large-scale World War II strategy with direct control of individual units, while Xenonauts centers on a Cold War-era organization, small squads, persistent soldiers, and turn-based alien combat.
