Our take on Shin Lotion Samurai
Its defining mechanic is a lotion-based movement system: Nobunaga cannot walk normally and must kick walls to slide, accelerate, and change momentum while avoiding sudden braking.
What is Shin Lotion Samurai?
Play as Oda Nobunaga after he has been transformed into a lotion samurai who cannot walk normally.
Kick walls to slide through the castle, using the lubricant’s acceleration to move quickly, but avoid kicking at the wrong time because it causes sudden braking. Slash ninjas during brief openings, dodge firearms, water, annihilation floors, and other traps, and search for the key needed to reach the goal. Strikes can also reveal the key’s location when the route is unclear. The samurai dies in one hit, so progress depends on learning the terrain, timing wall kicks, avoiding attacks, and managing speed. The game also includes encounters with figures such as Abe Seimei, Prince Shotoku, and Takeda Shingen.
How Shin Lotion Samurai plays
- 01Wall-kick movement
- Use wall impacts to build sliding speed, while mistimed kicks can bring movement to an abrupt stop.
- 02One-hit hazards
- Enemy attacks, firearms, water, annihilation floors, and other traps can kill the samurai in a single hit.
- 03Key-finding combat
- Slash ninjas to obtain information about the key when its location is not apparent.
- 04Sword combat
- Cut down ninjas during short attack windows while moving through the castle.
