Our take on Shattered Union
Rather than keeping turn-based combat entirely within discrete action phases, the game pauses for decisions and then presents their consequences through real-time battlefield animation. Its campaign also replaces a fixed sequence with mission progression shaped by player choices.
What is Shattered Union?
After terrorism, internal conflict, and the nuclear destruction of Washington, D.
C. , the United States breaks into several nations at war. Command one of these new states or the European Expeditionary Force and attempt to reunify the country. Battles use an overhead 3D view and combine turn-based decisions with real-time animated resolution. Mission order is non-linear, and player choices change how the campaign develops. Explosions, destroyed structures, burning environments, and tank tracks permanently alter each battlefield during its mission. The campaign spans the United States, including Chicago, the Rockies, California, Ohio, and New York City. Forces include M1 Abrams tanks, Apache helicopters, stealth bombers, MiG fighters, and T-95 Heavy Tanks, depending on military partnerships.
