StrategyIs Schmaragon worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- MOBA players who want shared team progression rather than individual leveling
- Players who enjoy persistent character consequences and can accept losing access to a hero
- Groups of close friends who prefer playing together rather than relying on solo matchmaking
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players looking for a quick-paced MOBA, since some high-level fights can take substantially longer than in other games of the genre
- Players who want a forgiving progression system, because hero lives persist across matches and running out makes that hero unavailable
- Players who prefer clear hero power parity, since the listed roles have substantially different match impact
- Players seeking a solo puzzle, turn-based tactics, or prison-escape RPG experience
Our take on Schmaragon
Persistent hero lives give matches consequences beyond the current session, but they also put access to a chosen character at risk. That trade-off is central to the design: players can switch heroes mid-match, yet losing every stored life for one hero removes that option in later matches.
What is Schmaragon?
Schmaragon is a third-person team MOBA with shared experience and mechanics influenced by EVE Online.
Every player on a team shares an XP level and gains abilities and items together. Players select hero abilities and can switch heroes during a match; controllable animal companions add combat and tactical options. Heroes have different levels of influence, and some fights can take longer than in other MOBAs. Each hero has a limited supply of lives that persists between matches.
Defeats spend lives, while defeating creeps or enemies and completing a match can restore them. Players can also seek randomly placed jungle orbs for bonuses that last until death. The game uses removal rules for inactivity, and teams can vote to remove a player.
How Schmaragon plays
- 01Shared Team Progression
- Players on a team advance together, gaining XP levels, abilities, and items at the same time.
- 02Persistent Hero Lives
- Lives carry over between matches, and a hero with none remaining can no longer be used.
- 03Mid-Match Hero Changes
- Players can choose abilities and switch to another hero after a match has begun.
- 04Controllable Companions
- Animal companions can be directed to contribute in combat and tactical situations.
- 05Jungle Orbs
- Three colored orbs appear at random jungle locations, and their bonuses end when the holder is defeated.
