Is Rocket Jockey worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Players who want direct arena combat combined with high-speed racing
- Groups of friends who enjoy physically attacking opponents during competitive matches
- Fans of exaggerated vehicular sports with multiple objective-based modes
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking realistic racing may bounce off the rocket-mounted combat, extreme crashes, and deliberately violent rules.
- Those wanting a broad progression system or varied long-term structure may find the focus on three arena modes repetitive.
- Players looking for conventional cars, karts, or drones will not find those vehicle types here.
- Players who avoid graphic fictional violence may reject the dragging, crushing, and burning attacks.
Our take on Rocket Jockey
The bounce point is the control-and-combat loop: steering requires firing cables at pylons while managing attacks that can knock riders off, steal rockets, and drag opponents into walls. Players wanting clean racing lines may hit that wall as soon as collisions become the central way to win.
What is Rocket Jockey?
Rocket Jockey is an arena sport built around volatile rockets, cables, pylons, and direct attacks on opposing riders.
Players steer by firing cables at pylons, knock rivals from their rockets, take control of abandoned rockets, and drag opponents across the ground at speeds over 100 MPH. Rocket Ball involves carrying different balls, including bouncing and explosive types, into goals or into other jockeys. Rocket Racing focuses on navigating pylons while forcing competitors into walls or out of the race. Rocket War uses a last-rider-standing structure, with attacks including clotheslining, dragging, jet exhaust, and crushing opponents against rocket hoods. The soundtrack features surf guitar associated with Dick Dale.
How Rocket Jockey plays
- 01Cable-Based Steering
- Firing cables at pylons lets riders turn through the arena while also creating opportunities to clothesline opponents.
- 02Rocket Hijacking
- Riders can knock competitors off their vehicles and take the rockets left behind.
- 03Rocket Ball Mode
- Matches use several ball types, including bouncing and explosive balls, which can be sent toward goals or rival jockeys.
- 04Rocket War Mode
- The round continues until one jockey remains on a rocket.
- 05Rocket Racing Mode
- Racers weave between pylons and try to force competitors into walls or out of the event.
Rocket Jockey compared to similar games
Rocket Jockey combines racing with rocket-mounted arena attacks, cable steering, rocket theft, and three combat-focused modes. Gas Guzzlers Extreme also mixes racing and weapon-based combat, but its scope centers on cars, weapons, upgrades, track bonuses, and multiple environments rather than rocket riding and cable attacks.
