Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking real-time combat may find the card-based battle system's simultaneous Sun and Moon choices a sticking point.
- Players who prefer a fixed deck may hit a wall when adapting combinations to different enemies and Stellar-card requirements.
- Players seeking multiplayer play will not find it here.
- Players looking for a game without exploration events, contracts, or story content may find these systems outside their preferred scope.
Our take on Rise & Muse
The sticking point is the battle setup: players must coordinate Sun and Moon cards, meet Stellar-card requirements, work within limited deployment slots, and account for contract effects. Players who want to play cards without balancing several linked systems may bounce off this layer.
What is Rise & Muse?
Rise & Muse is a single-player game with RPG, deck-building, and roguelike elements.
Set in Muse, it features battles using Sun and Moon cards at the same time. Stellar cards need specific cards from those decks to activate, and they use a limited number of deployment slots. Decks can be reworked between battles to prepare different combinations for varied opponents.
Contracts determine battle parameters, including the number of cards drawn, action points regained, and the strength of cards played. The story follows a quest to break the male deity’s seal, overcome the goddess, and bring order back to the world. The game has over 90 Sun, Moon, Stellar, and Chaotic cards, more than 100 contracts, over 40 exploration events, and more than 40 NPCs, each with a distinct personality.
