Play it if you…
Good fit- Point-and-click adventure players who prefer story-led puzzles over action-focused gameplay
- Players drawn to narratives about remorse, family estrangement, and attempts to make amends
- Players who want to explore a sequel's story without first playing its predecessor
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking fast-paced combat or action mechanics may find the point-and-click puzzle format too measured.
- Players looking for a broad, branching adventure may find the focus on Oliver's story and one shop robbery restrictive.
- Players who prefer stories without themes of alcohol dependence or family harm may want a different subject matter.
Our take on Repentant
Its hand-painted scenes and puzzle-focused point-and-click format keep attention on Oliver’s story, but leave little room for action-led play. The premise also centers on remorse, strained family ties, and alcohol dependence, making its dramatic focus a constraint for players seeking lighter subject matter.
What is Repentant?
Repentant is a point-and-click adventure with hand-painted locations.
The story follows Oliver, an experienced criminal who feels remorse over the harm his past actions caused his family. His attempts to reconnect with his ex-wife fail, while his alcohol dependence worsens. When Oliver witnesses a young girl robbing a small shop, he sees a chance to make amends by helping someone, though the story leaves open who needs help and who is the victim. Gameplay includes exploring locations and solving puzzles. The game is partially a sequel to Little Kite, but can be played without knowing that game. It also includes a soundtrack by Abstracode and English voice acting.
