Our take on Refract
Its focused laser-routing design keeps the game centered on solving fixed puzzles, so it gives up exploration, character development, and combat in favor of a tightly bounded logic format.
What is Refract?
Refract is a laser-based puzzle game built around directing primary-color beams to matching cuboid targets.
Players manipulate the beams through reflection and refraction across more than 50 challenging puzzles. Each stage has its own layout, while groups of ten use distinct themes. Hints are available on every level. Later stages introduce grates and prisms, adding further obstacles and increasing the puzzle demands. The game is presented as a tribute to Chromatron and Lazors, and knowledge of English is not required for play.
How Refract plays
- 01Color-Matching Lasers
- Direct primary-color beams toward cuboid targets with corresponding colors.
- 02Themed Puzzle Groups
- Levels use individual layouts, with a new theme introduced after each set of ten.
- 03Level Hints
- Every puzzle includes assistance for working toward a solution.
- 04Later Obstacles
- Grates and prisms appear in subsequent puzzles as the challenges become more demanding.
