Our take on REDCON
The store presentation foregrounds bombardment and fortress command, while the core play also requires ongoing resource balancing, repairs, firefighting, and crew assignments. The result is as much a systems-management game as a weapons-focused strategy title.
What is REDCON?
Command a fortress in a dystopian steampunk setting where the First World War never ended.
Battles run in real time, with an Active Pause that freezes combat while orders are issued. Target enemy systems, manage ammunition, power, and manpower, and assign crew to operate machinery, repair damage, extinguish fires, or repel intruders. The fortress can be customized by upgrading weapons and utility facilities and placing them in different layout slots. Conquer the rogue state of Krux to earn fortress layouts, medals, and battle perks. Combat approaches include bombardment, invasion, and attrition, with an arsenal ranging from individual soldiers to superguns.

REDCON compared to similar games

Xenonauts uses turn-based small-squad operations against extraterrestrials, while Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation covers vast armies across an entire world.
