Our take on RBM Studio's Waterloo

The focused Waterloo scenario gives up campaign breadth: play centers on one battle, its historical forces, and a defined route-to-Waterloo objective. That concentration leaves less room for changing maps, factions, and long-term progression found in broader strategy games.

What is RBM Studio's Waterloo?

Lead Napoleon’s troops or Wellington and Blucher’s coalition in a turn-based simulation of Waterloo.

Battles unfold on a six-sided grid using unit counters and historically grounded formations that specify the timing and locations of arriving reinforcements. Players take actions in alternating turns; when one commander passes, the other receives a randomly determined sequence of uncontested actions. Battles are resolved with dice, adjusted for terrain, nearby friendly forces, and Napoleon’s Grand Battery. Infantry and cavalry may combine during assaults.

Rain can hinder Napoleon’s movement or postpone aid reaching the Allied side. Napoleon seeks to clear a passage toward Waterloo, while the Allied commander must seal it and keep casualties down. Available play options cover solo control of either faction, matches against computer opponents, and internet games with another person.

04Solo And Online Modes
