Raiden V: Director's Cut is a shooting game set during a war over Earth's future.
Story Mode presents a new narrative whose direction changes according to performance. Boss Mission adds special-condition encounters and leaderboard competition, while Gallery contains character, concept, and game artwork. One or two players can play offline. The game includes three ships with different defensive capabilities, mobility, and secondary weapons. A health-bar damage system replaces the traditional lives system, and Cheer Attack temporarily increases the strength of secondary weapons. Voice acting is included, along with levels exclusive to the Director's Cut. The game is presented as accessible to learn while requiring mastery, with battle events that can change during play.
