Our take on RagTag
The store copy gives equal weight to story, soundtrack and hand-drawn presentation, but the playable structure it specifies is narrower: flick-based combat, special abilities and six locations. The emphasis may set expectations for a broader adventure than the described battlefield progression provides.
What is RagTag?
RagTag combines action and strategy through a physics-based battlefield where players pull back and release individual pieces to send them across the screen.
The controlled group includes humans, mutants, animals and cyborgs, who fight an aquatic alien race called the Amps. Progress spans six locations, with new pieces and special abilities becoming available along the way. Abilities include launching missiles, releasing electricity and passing through teammates to set up trick shots. The game uses hand-drawn visuals and includes a story and professional soundtrack. Its mechanics are described as simple while allowing manoeuvres and shots that use positioning and timing.

RagTag compared to similar games
RagTag uses flick-based battlefield actions, trick shots and a six-location progression against aquatic aliens. Anomaly: Warzone Earth also combines action and strategy against aliens, but uses a reversed tower-defense structure focused on saving a near-future Earth. Dungeon Defenders: Awakened instead combines cooperative action RPG play with tower defense, loot, leveling, pets and character customization.
