Our take on R-Type Dimensions EX
Rather than replacing arcade structure with exploration or progression systems, this package preserves the fixed-stage shooter format and adds presentation switching. Its Infinite Mode changes the usual limited-life pressure, while the original campaigns remain available in Classic Mode.
What is R-Type Dimensions EX?
Combines the original R-Type and R-Type II, covering 8 levels from the first game and 6 from the second.
Players can use retro 2D visuals and music or switch during play to remastered 3D graphics with reworked audio. Classic Mode preserves the original gameplay, while Infinite Mode provides unlimited ships, stage selection, and one-button maximum power-ups. Both modes support solo play and local multiplayer. Co-op settings allow friendly play without collision or competitive play with collision enabled. A slow-motion button and a fast-forward button alter movement during stages. The package also includes 1080p remastering and all 14 Bydo-filled stages.
