Our take on Quantum Conscience
Its central mechanic replaces the frequent decision prompts common in branching visual novels. That creates a narrower interaction model: progression depends on when Blaire reads minds, while most direct story choices disappear after the opening.
What is Quantum Conscience?
Quantum Conscience is an experimental visual novel set in a future of terraformed planets and conflict between two intergalactic agencies.
Blaire, a FOE soldier, gains telepathic abilities through an ARCHON experiment and must navigate divided loyalties. The story’s main interaction is deciding when to read other characters’ minds. Information Blaire obtains, or chooses not to obtain, affects her actions and how others respond. Unlike branching visual novels built around frequent forced decisions, the game removes most such choices after its opening. Early setup includes selecting Blaire’s gender and answering background questions. From the middle of chapter one, mind reading is generally available throughout the story.
How Quantum Conscience plays
- 01Telepathic Story Control
- Using or withholding Blaire’s mind-reading ability changes her conduct and other characters’ reactions.
- 02Factional Conflict
- The plot places FOE’s campaign against ARCHON’s mind-invasion technology at the center of Blaire’s divided loyalty.
- 03Opening Character Setup
- The opening allows selection of Blaire’s gender and responses to questions about her background.
