Our take on Project Starship X
Instead of treating cosmic horror as solemn and oppressive, the game turns it into a comedic shoot-'em-up with a flamboyant pilot, absurd weapons, surreal enemies, and direct ship-to-enemy collisions. Its run structure also replaces a fixed campaign path with five procedurally selected stages.
What is Project Starship X?
Pilot Swagthulhu, a spaceship shaped by cosmic-horror parody, through a roguelite shoot-'em-up built around crashing into enemies, dodging threats, and collecting unusual weapons and powerups.
The game contains 14 themed levels, with five selected for each run through procedural generation. Tank modules, bowling, throwable objects, bombs, spoons, and other equipment alter the action. Events remix encounters, while surreal enemies and bosses support the comedic tone. Hardcore, Ultra-Hardcore, Boss Rush, and Chaos modes provide additional structures. Chiptune music accompanies 16-bit visuals with modern effects, screen shake, secrets, and telegraphed hazards.
