Is Portal Dungeon worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Roguelite players who want build experimentation across changing dungeon encounters
- Small groups who want online cooperative action for up to four players
- Players who prefer choosing and customizing from a roster of adventurers
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a large campaign may reach the end of the stated eight-level structure quickly
- Players who dislike repeated build adjustment may hit a wall when adapting characters, skills, equipment, and talents
- Players looking for a non-action adventure may not fit the combat-focused dungeon format
Our take on Portal Dungeon
The bounce point arrives when build customization becomes central: each character branches skills into variants, while equipment and talents must be combined for different encounters. Players who want a fixed, low-management combat setup may stop there rather than continue through the eight levels.
What is Portal Dungeon?
Portal Dungeon lets one player or an online group of up to four control adventurers through eight dungeon stages.
Each stage presents its own layouts, foes, and bosses. The roster contains over twelve characters, and every character has one signature move plus four abilities, each branching into three possible versions. Hundreds of items can be collected without an inventory cap. Equipment can be paired with character talents to shape specialized builds, which can then be adjusted for opponents with varied combat methods. The objective is to fight through the dungeon’s encounters and arrive at the final portal in the world.
How Portal Dungeon plays
- 01Four-player co-op
- Online sessions can include a single player or as many as four connected players.
- 02Character customization
- Each adventurer has one special attack and four skills, with every skill branching into three versions.
- 03Eight dungeon levels
- Every level uses its own map layout, enemy selection, and boss encounters.
- 04Build creation
- Equipment can be combined with character talents to form individualized setups.
- 05Large item pool
- The game offers hundreds of items and places no limit on how many items can be carried.
Portal Dungeon compared to similar games
Portal Dungeon combines side-scrolling roguelite combat, character builds, and online play for up to four players. Abyssus also offers multiplayer roguelite action, but its described scope centers on fast-paced shooting, hand-crafted levels, and weapons modified with ancient technologies rather than a roster of adventurers with branching skills. The other listed alternatives do not describe the same combination of multiplayer dungeon progression and build customization.
