What is PlanetFate?
PlanetFate is a room-scale VR defense game for HTC Vive.
Players place mines and arrange orbital laser and torpedo units while scanning for aliens, asteroids, and other threats approaching from any direction. The game supports room-scale movement, motion controllers, adjustable planet height, and an optional standing platform. Current arcade modes include a five-minute Time Challenge and an Endless mode. Highscores track arcade performance. An early-build Saturn mission adds a cargo delivery run with enemy platforms and asteroid fields; players distribute ship power among weapons, shields, and engines while protecting the cargo. That mission is still under development and may contain bugs. Planned modes include escort, battlecruiser, defense-building, and skirmish missions.
How PlanetFate plays

- Laser units, torpedoes, and mines can be positioned around the planet to counter incoming threats.

- Players move around the playspace and use HTC Vive motion controllers to manipulate defense units.

- The planet can be positioned for players ranging from 4 feet to 7 feet and heights between them.

- The early cargo run requires power management across weapons, shields, and engines while navigating enemy platforms and asteroid fields.
PlanetFate compared to similar games
Anomaly: Warzone Earth also combines action and strategy around an alien invasion, but it uses a reversed tower-defense structure rather than room-scale VR defense around a planet. Dungeon Defenders: Awakened combines cooperative action RPG and tower defense with loot, leveling, pets, and character customization, while PlanetFate centers on VR positioning, spatial awareness, and arcade modes.
