Saves you a refund- Players who want predetermined solutions rather than designing and testing mechanisms
- Anyone seeking a fast, low-complexity game instead of a demanding 2D puzzle system
- Players looking for combat-focused post-apocalyptic gameplay
Our take on Photochemistry
The bounce point arrives when a puzzle requires assembling and executing a working mechanism rather than following a fixed answer. Players who do not enjoy testing their own chemical-processing designs may stop there, before the later parts and optional stages.
What is Photochemistry?
Photochemistry is a 2D puzzle game about producing chemical compounds needed to sustain plant life after a war.
Players design, assemble, and run mechanisms that transform basic particles into more complex materials. The game includes three acts, each set in a distinct environment with different puzzle elements, plus optional stages. New parts become available as the toolkit expands, adding construction possibilities for later challenges. A built-in recorder can capture solutions as GIF files, and a level editor allows custom stages to be created. The narrative follows a robot investigating its creator and original purpose while working to restore the ruined world.
How Photochemistry plays
- 01Three campaign acts
- Each act introduces its own setting and puzzle components.
- 02Optional challenge stages
- Additional levels sit outside the main progression for players seeking extra puzzles.
- 03Expanding component set
- New parts open further construction options as the game progresses.
- 04Solution recording
- Completed mechanisms can be captured in GIF format with the integrated recorder.
- 05Custom level editor
- The built-in editor supports making original stages.
Photochemistry compared to similar games
Photochemistry and SpaceChem both center on constructing mechanisms for chemical production. Photochemistry adds a post-apocalyptic plant-restoration setting, three acts, optional stages, solution recording, and a custom level editor, while SpaceChem places the player in the role of a reactor engineer producing chemical goods for frontier colonies. Fun with Ragdolls: The Game does not match this chemical-synthesis puzzle workflow.
