Our take on Phenom
Grid-based movement is the defining detail: James must combine positioning, environmental logic, improvised methods, and noise awareness while searching for Alice.
What is Phenom?
Phenom follows James after an accident separates him from his wife, Alice, during a mysterious zombie outbreak.
James must find her while surviving through grid-based movement, improvised methods, environmental use, and logic. Zombies can hear loud noises, so movement requires attention to the sound made during exploration. Weapons, ammunition, and other useful items can be used against them, but the game asks players to use these items wisely. If a zombie pounces on James, he is doomed. The game combines a search for a missing person with grid navigation, environmental interaction, sound-sensitive enemies, and item-based combat in a zombie-apocalypse setting.
How Phenom plays
- 01Grid-Based Movement
- James travels through the setting by moving around a grid.

- Progress involves using improvised methods, the surroundings, and logic.
- 03Sound-Sensitive Zombies
- Loud noises can be heard by enemies during exploration.
- 04Usable Combat Items
- Firearms, rounds, and useful objects are available for fighting zombies.
Phenom compared to similar games
Mr. Prepper focuses on preparing for a possible nuclear war by building an underground shelter, crafting, and dealing with an authoritarian government. Phenom instead centers on finding a missing wife during a zombie outbreak, with grid movement, environmental logic, noise-sensitive enemies, and item-based combat.
