Our take on Patrick's Parabox
Instead of treating boxes as fixed objects in a level, the game makes the level structure itself part of the puzzle. Containers can hold other containers, and self-containing spaces create recursive situations that replace the usual static puzzle-board layout.
What is Patrick's Parabox?
Patrick's Parabox is a recursive puzzle game built around boxes that contain other boxes.
Players manipulate this structure by moving boxes into and out of one another, then examine the consequences when a box contains itself. The game includes over 350 hand-crafted puzzles, with each puzzle introducing an idea or mechanic while guiding players through the system. Further stages add recursive twists and additional mechanics. An inquisitive soundtrack and sound effects by Priscilla Snow respond to the introduction of new mechanics. The game received the Excellence in Design award at the Independent Games Festival 2020, was selected for IndieCade 2019, and received the IndieCade Developers Choice award.
