Our take on Parallel Experiment
The page emphasizes a race against time, but its concrete details focus on communication and solving puzzles with a partner. The time-pressure framing is not matched by a stated timer or timed mechanic.
What is Parallel Experiment?
Parallel Experiment is a cooperative puzzle adventure for two players, with escape-room-style challenges and a noir comic-book story.
Players take the roles of detectives Ally and Old Dog, who are often separated and receive different clues. They must communicate to solve puzzles, including ciphers, locks, computer passwords and water-flow challenges. The game includes more than 80 puzzles, cooperative mini-games and conversations with non-player characters that can reveal clues. Players can take notes, sketch solutions and interact with the environment.
The story is presented in almost 100 comic-book pages. Each player needs a separate copy, and play requires an internet connection and voice communication. Cross-platform play is supported across mobile, tablet, PC and Mac. This is a standalone second chapter that can be played without prior knowledge of the series.
How Parallel Experiment plays
- 01Separate Clue Sets
- Each detective receives information the other needs to solve puzzles, making communication central to progress.
- 02Cooperative Mini-Games
- Players can pause the investigation for retro-styled activities such as darts, matching games and a claw machine.
- 03Interactive Conversations
- Some discussions with characters contain puzzles that the pair must work through together.
- 04In-Game Note-Taking
- Players can write notes and sketch ideas while exploring and solving challenges.
