Saves you a refund- Players seeking a broad combat system or role-playing progression may find the platforming-focused design narrow.
- Those wanting a slow, low-pressure adventure may find light avoidance and movement challenges demanding.
Our take on Pale Night
The focus on avoiding light gives movement a clear governing rule, but it also narrows the range of situations the platforming can create. Players primarily seeking combat variety or broader adventure systems may find the experience concentrated on traversal, shadow manipulation, and route execution.
What is Pale Night?
Pale Night is a 2D platforming adventure set in Vector, a world of shapes and colors.
Pal must stay away from light while traveling through sleeping forests, moody caverns, and Mount Thunder. Progression introduces new movement abilities, including the dash orb, dig orb, and cloud orb. The world contains hidden secrets and puzzles built around light and shadow. Collecting all prisms adds an extra challenge, while speedrunning challenges provide another test of platforming skill. The game uses a minimalist visual style and combines exploration, environmental puzzles, movement-based progression, and platforming. Its central hazard and puzzle structure revolve around controlling movement through areas where light must be avoided.
